Side Order looks insanely interesting, having Inkopolis Plaza back is cool but feels more like a bonus on top of the big story stuff

Something that’s cool is that the Side Order DLC looks like pure white for order of course, but the bleached coral around the map definitely suggests something about climate change/death of the ocean. Wonder if it will play a theme or something?

My personal thoughts about this DLC aside, this is probably my favorite reaction to any part of the Nintendo Direct I’ve seen yet!

It would definitely be cool if they brought back all the S1 stages with this, maybe with some reworks (just hopefully they aren’t anything like hammerhead). It would also be cool if as a launch event they let everyone back into inkopolis for a couple days and did a splatfest based on which idols you like best.

I think this was way too soon to release paid DLC for this game, we haven’t even been through two seasons yet.
I personally think they should have focused much more on the base game, it still has a lot of balance issues and most of the weapons don’t even have a second kit yet.

My main question for side order is: Why were there fish? Inklings and Octolings can’t survive in water. So unless we’re playing as some new, highly evolved version of the two, I have a feeling there’s a possibility of a new Species appearing, much how like the Octo Expansion let us play as an Octoling

I think the plan for the expansion pass was for only just the wave 2 part BUT they’re making a optional player hub for side order and thought “oh let’s just bring back splatoon 1 hub” and I think they made splatoon 1 hub first cause they need more time to develop the DLC since we didn’t get a date for it that’s my theory

It’s so weird seeing that both hub areas from the past two games are gonna be included

Even tho Inkopolis Square from Splatoon 2 is mostly whited out and filled with coral

About them charging for inkopolis. I dont care if its purely cosmetic or not. I was gonna buy the dlc story mode regardless of whatever price they had listed because Octo expansion was just that good.

So Inkopolis just feels like an extra bonus to me. And as a guy who played splatoon since launch, I WILL TAKE THIS NOSTALGIA TRIP! YESSIR

“But…why???” I had the same reaction as well. Seems like its purely cosmetic. Octo Expansion was $20, this is $25. So it kinda feels like everyone is being forced to buy $5 cosmetic DLC even if they just want the $20 DLC campaign.

I’m a bit worried about wave 1, seems like it’s literally just a reskin of the plaza with no gameplay differences, just nostalgia. Wave 2 should be good, though
