Splatoon always has the craziest and most interesting aesthetics. I love the look of the Side Order DLC.

something i really love about splatoon is that they play around with eerie lore ideas and a lot of the music in its story modes (and most recently some of the big run music, as well as the music in the side order trailer) is so creepy sounding. i like the darker undertones to a bright colorful game lol its such a contrast

The biggest thing I’m thinking about is: you know the main lobby In splatoon 3 with the lockers, test range, and drink ticket area right? Well we never had that in splatoon 1 and those areas arnt seen in the direct. Could this possibly mean there’s a brand new lobby inside the deca tower? Not sure but it seems likely. Also cannot wait to see if Sheldon’s old training room is still there and I wonder what the plaza would look like during sunset hours before splatfest and big run

For the Inkopolis Plaza I think it might be more of a place to setup for side order since the plaza and the square is suppose to be close to each other in universe. So if it is the square that having problems they can use the plaza as a close hub base like with the other games.

I think the idea is that the S2 Plaza is going to be unlockable after Side Order, so they threw in the first game’s area so you could choose any one you wanted. It having anything else besides maybe music tracks is merely a copiate crisis.

Either this is a “what if” scenario or it’s *exactly* what happened after Octo Expansion. Given that Marina was gunning for Order and lost, and Pearl’s Chaos won out. They went on to start roaming and collabing music wise with other groups. Leaving the old splatoon 2 map abandoned as people would migrate out without the idols keeping them there, and head to the Splatoon 3 or 1 areas instead. Leaving Splatoon 2’s lobby bleak and baron. Left alone and drained of life. Due to the Deep Sea Metro being heavily tied to this location, and Agent 8 essentially living there…they’ve been left behind. Slowly remembering more about their past as they reflect on everything up to this point.

I think nintendo understood that the mysteriousness and lore of octo expansion was an incredible success. They are doing it again, expanding the octos lore (wish i honestly wish there is more)

I’d like to point out that in the current amiibo dialogue the first thing they say is “So this is Splatsville…” or at least something around those lines

I always personally found it odd, but looks like it was planned from the start! Maybe this means more Hub DLC but who knows

I have a theory about why all the dead coral might be there in the “side order” dlc sneak peek:

What if because pearl and marina left inkopolis square, nobody wanted to live there anymore? So without anyone living there, everything grew over or got submerged or something?!

4:14 If I dont remember wrong the singleplayer was actually at the right of the lobby not at the left. In the left u had the miiverse post.
Also I dont think spike would let us reroll with money instead of seasnails bcs that is like putting a paywall to gain an advantage

I checked the eshop right after the direct. If you look at the pass, it shows each separately. I’m pretty sure both DLC waves will be sold separately along with all together. Like typical season pass. I think it even shows the price as $25. I bet Inkopilos is just a roughly $5 reskin.

i think the main part of the 25 bucks is probably 20$ for side order, because remember how octo expansion cost 20$? im guessing that the other 5 are for the splat 1 lobby/plaza

Initially when I thought about Flounder Heights, Hammerhead Bridge, and Museum D’Alfonsino being in Splatoon 3, even though they’re maps from Greater Inkopolis, I always wondered how we even get to those maps from Splatsville, but with the addition of being back in Inkopolis Plaza in the dlc, this sorta answered my theory on how we got to those maps in the first place.

For Side Order, maybe it takes place in an alternate timeline where team order won, and everything just turned into a blank slate, and all of the octolings are under control of someone, all organized without flaw, as well as cloned to mass amounts. If salmon are involved, it may have to do something with Mr. Grizz’s backup plan when his rocket to turn the Earth into a space fuzzball fails, and had to use something else to control an army of octolings. The pulsating thing may be more fuzzy ooze, as that stuff pulsates, but I’m not entirely sure about it. Whatever the case is, we might be playing as an octoling who gone rogue, and trying to figure out the truth behind what actually happened to Inkopolis Square, and everything around it.

The DLC having Spyke reroll your gear with cash sounds kinda “pay to win” to me, like if you buy the DLC you can get ability chunks easier and that helps you online, I don’t think any Splatoon DLC will ever effect how you play online, also “why is Inkopolis in Splatoon 3?” Nostalgia simple as
Edit: In some translations Side Order is called Tower of Order, also the image of Pearl we see in the trailer is in the white Inkopolis Square as you can see the white buildings in the background, I also want to point out that Octo Expansion’s trailer had scenes that never appeared in the final version so not all of what we’re seeing is guaranteed to be in Side Order

I mean, if I’m being honest. Our Inklings and Octolings would be going from Splatsville to Inkopolis either way due to us having maps from Inkopolis still being used in battle.

So I think it makes sense that we get an Inkopolis reskin since technically it’s implied for us to be going there anyways.

Also, Side Order also would likely be taking place in Inkopolis, so going to Inkopolis makes even more sense as well to have that plaza be an option.

Plus nostalgia is definitely going to bring people to want to buy it and see how the Plaza feels like in Splatoon 3.

11:16 fun fact: those black spike looking structures are supposedly hostile nuclear warning structures, basically zones that are supposed to deter humans in the far future from settling or interacting with that zone due to it being a nuclear waste dump. These zones can span for over 10,000 years, which hey wouldn’t ya know it, is when Splatoon takes place

I think the side order will be November or December it just seems to give winter/holiday vibes and if there are 2 more I think one will be early spring 2024 and the other in summer like may or June right before the final fest in September
